On Friday 7th October 2011 we welcomes many families, friends and special guests into school to celebrate Harvest Thanksgiving with us. The photograph shows Year 4 children with the Deputy Mayor of Hinckley and Bosworth and Majors Mr and Mrs Battle from the Hinckley Salvation army who shared our celebrations with us. Year 4 led a special act of worship to give thanks for our food and we collected a fresh, tinned and packet foods to give to the elderly in our neighbourhood and to the Salvation Army to support their work with local individuals and families who are in difficult circumstances. We have also collected items to fill an Aquabox - a type of humanitarian aid sponsored by Rotary, to support those in other countries where special circumstances have led to them being homeless and without clean water. top ^ |

NATIONAL TEACHING AWARDS 2011 MRS FOULKES IS THE REGIONAL WINNER TED WRAGG AWARD FOR LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT
Mrs Foulkes is the regional winner of the Ted Wragg Lifetime Achievement Award in the 2011 National Teaching Awards. The above picture shows Mrs Foulkes receiving her award from Canon Mary Lawson - Diocesan Director of Education for the Leicester Diocese. This is a well deserved honour that recognises Mrs Foulkes' 35 years service to education, all of it at our school. The judges were particularly impressed with Mrs Foulkes' energy and commitment to learning beyond the classroom through sport and through the opportunities that taking part in day and residential educational visits brings. Mrs Foulkes now goes forward to the National Finals in London, which will be televised on Sunday 30th October. top ^ |

COMIC RELIEF - RED NOSE DAY 2011 TARGET BROKEN ..... over £2000 RAISED !!!!!!!!!!!! This year we have celebrated Comic Relief by dong 'Something Funny for Money'. We aimed to raise £1000 through all sorts of games, competitions and a non-uniform day in school. We have shattered our target by raising more than double the amount predicted! POSTMAN PAT'S LONG WALK TO LEICESTER Mr Holt and Miss Kirkham raised a fantastic amount of money by dressing up as Postman Pat and Jess the cat and walking twelve miles from Barwell to Leicester Clock Tower in a cardboard replica of the post van - made in school from materials donated by the community. They took five hours to complete their journey, which was covered by Radio Leicester on their Breakfast Show and on Drive Time in the afternoon. Here is the link to the story on the Radio Leicester website: RADIO LEICESTER - POSTMAN PAT STORY top ^ |
