Keeping up with the parents

Home-School

At Barwell CE Junior School we really value the links that we have developed between home and school. We are certain that children, families and school benefit when we all work co-operatively together.

We try our best to use a range of ways to communicate effectively with families. This area of our website gives information and ideas that we hope families will find useful as they support their children's learning at home.

KEEPING UP WITH THE CHILDREN 2007

Marion McMillan is our adult learning tutor. Marion has worked with many groups of parents over the years, helping them to get to grips with changes in the way children are taught Literacy and Numeracy.

A large and very enthusiastic group of Year 3 parents has made this an exciting and really special year for KUC in our school.

The group has now graduated from Numeracy and Literacy training with KUC and parents have experienced the joy and fun of learning new skills in the excellent atmosphere of this group.

The phootograph shows some of the group with their children in school during a special assembly in which parents received certificates and 'goody bags' of materials to help them as they continue to support their children's learning at home.

The next KUC class will begin in Autumn 2007 - a note will go home with pupils to invite parents to attend.
